Aircraft noise emissions are a sensitive topic in the aviation industry, and overall noise levels are affected significantly by the acoustics of aircraft engines. This article describes the challenges in introducing alternative engine types to aircraft operations, and finally, explanations will be given of approaches to reduce aircraft noise.

Airbus is currently setting up a new FAL (final assembly line) in Qingdao, China, for the Airbus Helicopters H135. In 2018 the new plant in China is expected to be finished with the first H135 already coming off the production line by mid-2019. H135 are often used for air rescue which is why this article takes a closer look on the German air rescue organisation ADAC Luftrettung.

ARTS recently attended the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget as an exhibitor for the first time. The event, which was being held for the fifty-second time, provided the ideal platform for maintaining existing contacts and forming new relationships. Projects that ARTS is involved with had a strong presence, both on the ground and in the air. It’s now time for a personal report, looking back over the event as a whole.

With his spectacular voyage around the earth’s circumference, the adventurer Fedor Koniukhov has set new records, unmatched in the long history of balloon travel. The Russian-Orthodox priest successfully circumnavigated the world in just eleven days, sometimes under extreme conditions, beating Steve Fossett’s old record by 36 hours.
