Job opportunities
Warehouse clerks are experts in warehouse management. They are responsible for incoming and outgoing goods, the storage of goods and the transport of goods. In addition to the physical movement of goods, the tasks of a warehouse clerk also include the issuing and checking of transport documents, goods preparation, quality control and stocktaking. Warehouse clerks work, for example, in warehouses and logistics centers in trade and commerce.
The basis for the job as a warehouse clerk is a two-year apprenticeship, and the profession is open to candidates regardless of their school leaving certificate. With an optional one-year extension, trainees can continue their training to become warehouse logistics specialists and become even more involved in the commercial aspects of logistics.
The day-to-day work of warehouse clerks includes both manual activities and administrative tasks. A strong ability to concentrate, keep track of things and organize oneself are important in order to cope with the varied tasks; a certain level of fitness is also important for the physical aspects of the job. Knowledge of English for communication with international trading partners, knowledge of merchandise management systems and a driver's license for industrial trucks are also very helpful for a:n warehouse clerk in everyday life.
Projects
Warehouse clerks at ARTS work in the logistics centers of us and our partners in the aerospace industry, in the automotive supply industry and at transport service providers. They handle incoming and outgoing goods as well as internal goods handling and work in close cooperation with the customs department of the respective companies.
Among other things, ARTS warehouse clerks record incoming goods deliveries, determine whether the delivery documents correspond to the quantity of packages delivered and check the quality of the delivery, for example with regard to any transport damage or other defects. They then supervise the allocation of the goods to the individual incoming goods processes. In the internal movement of goods, ARTS warehouse clerks ensure that materials are transported on time and in the required quality. In the outgoing goods area, they guarantee the timely provision of the required goods and the assignment of the associated delivery documents and labels.
