Job opportunities

The job description as an accountant is not a protected designation and there is no standardized training in Germany. Many accountants have a commercial education, but there are also career changers or accountants with a university degree. Accountants also have access to a wide range of further training and specialization opportunities - for example, as a certified accountant - which enable them to become experts in their field.

Accountants work in the accounting departments of companies, in the service industry or in organizations. Accounting is usually further subdivided as the size of the company increases, for example into balance sheet accounting, financial accounting or payroll accounting. Accountants record the business transactions of a company and are also jointly responsible for other administrative tasks. Among other things, they are responsible for drawing up accounts, preparing profit and loss accounts or tax returns, and preparing annual financial statements.

For the work as an accountant, a high affinity for working with numbers is extremely important, since the examination and posting of accounts make up a central part of the tasks. Employers also often expect a high degree of accuracy and diligence in order to guarantee clean and traceable accounting. Knowledge of the legal and tax fundamentals as well as the accounting software used is essential for everyday work.

Projects

ARTS accountants work for us and our partner companies in the IT industry, aerospace, the automotive sector and increasingly in the field of renewable energies.

Depending on their specialization, ARTS accountants take on various tasks. For example, they are responsible for checking and posting incoming invoices, checking and settling travel expenses and credit card statements for all employees, as well as carrying out account declarations and handling payment transactions. They also prepare outgoing invoices and monitor contract management. In addition, they take on tasks depending on their specialization: In a job as a balance sheet accountant, for example, they are increasingly involved in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; as a financial accountant, they process and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
