In order to create a finished machine or system from semi-finished products and components, a large number of precisely coordinated processing steps are necessary. Construction mechanics have numerous production and joining methods at their disposal, such as sawing, welding or drilling. In addition to producing the necessary components from raw materials and then assembling them, they also take care of the necessary work preparation and carry out final checks and the necessary documentation.

The occupation of construction mechanic is a state-recognised training occupation in Germany and usually lasts three and a half years. Whereas it used to be possible to specialise in certain fields, the training has now been standardised. After the intermediate examination, however, it is possible to specialise in a particular field for the rest of the training period, for example as a construction mechanic for welding technology, sheet metal construction or steel and metal construction.

The most important skills and characteristics of construction mechanics in the job include technical understanding, good spatial awareness and the ability to read and create technical drawings. In addition, the job requires sufficient physical resilience, dexterity and good coordination.

Projects

ARTS construction mechanics work for us and our partners in various metalworking industries, such as metal and plant construction, electrical engineering or selected automotive suppliers. Their central tasks include demanding assembly and metalworking activities such as blasting, sawing, straightening, welding, grinding, punching and drilling. Expertise is particularly important for the manufacture of individual parts and welded constructions according to production documents in order to create reliable connections.

Other activities that a construction mechanic job at ARTS has in store include reading and implementing drawings and parts lists, carrying out initial quality checks after completion and documenting the work carried out.

Requirements

Are you interested in one of our construction mechanic vacancies? You should have the following requirements for a job as a construction mechanic at ARTS or one of our customers:

• Completed training as a construction mechanic, industrial mechanic, building fitter or similar equivalent training.
• Initial work experience in metal construction
• Knowledge of common manufacturing processes in metalworking
• Good knowledge of welding (MAG or WIG)
• Welding licence (MAG/WIG) or forklift or crane licence advantageous
• Good knowledge of German
• Willingness to work shifts
