Application possibilities
Depending on the level of requirements, the basis for working in Technical or Strategic Purchasing can be either an apprenticeship, for example as an industrial clerk, or a degree in engineering or economics. In addition, some skills and characteristics are essential for technical and strategic buyers. When dealing with suppliers, who are often international, you need to be fluent in English, have good negotiating skills, be assertive, have knowledge of the industry, and have a deep understanding of the technical properties of the products. In the strategic area, buyers benefit from knowledge of relevant tools such as Office, SAP or common ERP systems as well as an analytical and entrepreneurial way of thinking and working.
Projects
Technical and strategic buyers at ARTS work for us and our partners from the mechanical and plant engineering, aerospace and selected companies from the automation sector. They take on challenging tasks outside of operational procurement. For example, they analyze procurement markets and identify suitable procurement sources. They also develop and implement the commodity group strategy and then handle purchasing processes in line with this. In doing so, they strive to identify supply risks at an early stage, assess them and derive suitable measures. Furthermore, employees in Technical and Strategic Purchasing are involved in the medium- and long-term strategic alignment of purchasing activities. They are responsible for maintaining and expanding supplier relationships as well as supplier development with regard to cost reduction projects, optimizing the number of suppliers and ensuring availability. In addition, they also support the quality department in supplier development, including quality issues and audits. In addition, they are responsible for negotiating multi-year contracts, framework agreements and other purchasing conditions.
