Fibre Optic Planner (f/m/x) - Network Technology

At the University Computing Centre (HRZ), a central facility of TU Darmstadt, we design, implement and operate the university's central IT services for research, teaching and studies and, as a competence centre in the field of information technology, make our expertise available to all members of the university.

Tasks

  • Inventory and documentation of the university's fibre optic cabling
  • Planning and management of (sub-)projects in the field of fibre optic cabling and route planning, taking into account the structural conditions, current fire protection regulations and current cable standards
  • Creating specifications for the installation and documentation of data communication networks in the wide area in coordination with the responsible building departments
  • Accompanying the construction measures and handing over the completed infrastructure for operation

Qualification

  • Successfully completed university studies in the field of computer science, information technology or a comparable qualification
  • Relevant professional experience in the management of (partial) projects, alone or in a team in the field of information or communications technology
  • Very well structured, independent, reliable and careful way of working
  • Confident demeanour, negotiating skills, communication and teamwork skills
  • Very good German and good written and spoken English skills
  • Class B driving licence


We would be delighted if you have knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Methodical and practical skills in the area of network planning and experience with project, documentation and planning tools such as Businessmap, FNT Command
  • Experience and/or certification in the construction and operation of high-performance fibre optic networks
