Job opportunities

The profession of locksmith is one of the officially abolished professions. The successor occupations are metalworker with specialization in construction technology, vehicle technology or metal design. Depending on the specialization, the focus is on different activities - from the planning and production of large systems, ornate decorative objects or working in the construction industry, many tasks can be part of the day-to-day work of locksmiths.

A locksmith or metal worker is one of the official apprenticeship occupations with a training period of three and a half years. In addition to manual dexterity, metalworkers benefit from a careful, clean and concentrated way of working, since handling hot metals and sophisticated tools is a regular part of their daily work. The profession is also intellectually challenging. When implementing customer requirements, an in-depth knowledge of different metals, their properties as well as limitations in their use is often necessary. In addition, locksmiths are often responsible not only for troubleshooting but also for analyzing problems and finding solutions.

Projects

ARTS locksmiths work for us and our partners in various industries such as aerospace, industrial assembly, qualified project service providers, welding technology or steel construction. The tasks ultimately taken on depend greatly on the specialization and the company.

Typical tasks for locksmiths are, for example, the execution of maintenance, inspection and repair orders, including the associated independent error analysis and troubleshooting. In the area of maintenance, locksmiths are sometimes responsible for the general building services of their company, such as the maintenance and repair of doors and windows. Another area of work involves carrying out demanding joining work, such as welding or tacking. A final, important area of work for locksmiths is the accurate and complete documentation of all work performed.
