Professionals in an IT manager job are not only directly involved in the programming and further development of IT applications, but as managers they also have leadership and personnel responsibility. They also play an important role in communication between IT employees and external parties. In addition to sound business and IT knowledge, soft skills such as leadership and communication skills, conflict management and assertiveness are important.
The basis for working in an IT manager's job is usually a degree in computer science or a degree in economics with a specialization in computer science, and more rarely an education in the IT field. However, it is also important to have a certain amount of professional experience in the IT sector as well as regular further training in order to keep up to date with the latest technical developments.
IT managers work at ARTS and our partners, for example at specialised IT service providers or in the IT departments of companies. Exciting industries such as automotive supply or aerospace are represented. IT managers are responsible for the competent support of the respective IT system landscapes and provide advice on issues relating to SAP and the associated IT applications. If required, they coordinate the design and development of individual change and enhancement requests or the adaptation of print forms and programs. When releasing new software or a new update, they take on the preparation, execution and documentation of technical and functional tests, as well as the organization of integration tests.
IT managers also work in direct contact with customers and in close cooperation with external service providers and their management. They are responsible for the support and further development of customer-specific programs and interfaces, as well as for the correct and sufficient consultation and training of the respective key users. When outsourcing tasks, they create the corresponding IT concept as well as requirements and specifications.
