Design Engineer (m/f/x)

Our client in Hamburg is looking for a Design Engineer with a strong customer focus and the ability to build credibility both internally and externally. You will be known for your ability to meet tight and demanding deadlines as well as specific customer requirements. As a valued member of an integrated project team, you will contribute significantly to the successful realisation of challenging projects.

Tasks

  • Definition of product weight targets to support product design
  • Definition of weight targets for assemblies to promote a weight-optimised product development process
  • Preparing and checking weight data for early product development using manual calculations in tools such as Excel or Mathcad
  • Prepare and review weight data for detailed product development and design changes by interrogating CAD (Catia V5)
  • Promote confidence in weight data through early physical weighing of parts and utilisation of this data
  • Independently manage and work closely with senior members of the weight and project teams to ensure timely task completions
  • Identify weight issues and assist in the development of weight reduction strategies and subsequent implementation
  • Preparing and reviewing weight reports in line with the weight plan and preparing and reviewing weight reduction plans as required

Qualification

  • Successfully completed studies or equivalent degree, ideally with an MSc
  • Many years of professional experience in the design of composite and/or metal components in the aerospace industry
  • Excellent knowledge of aerospace cabin interiors, including galleys and seats
  • Expertise of BMS documents, ECRs, approvals and concessions as well as know-how of A/C industry standards, regulations and qualification requirements
  • Experience with computer-aided design and analysis methods, especially CATIA V5
  • Good user knowledge of MS Office and Smarteam
  • Understanding of loading principles and experience with GD&T (tolerance stacks)
  • Work permit for the EU available
