Tasks

  • Ensuring the damage tolerance and fatigue strength of aerospace structures, including metal and composite structures and components

  • Definition and determination of load spectra through measurements

  • Selection and qualification of inspection procedures (NDI) according to expertise

  • Evaluation of material properties in relation to the environment, material technology and manufacturing process

  • Use of numerical methods to determine stress intensity, crack propagation simulation and fatigue analysis

  • Derivation and implementation of damage tolerance requirements for components and subsystems

  • Ensuring structural integrity and monitoring implementation (Fracture Control Programme)

  • Developing damage-tolerant components and subsystems and supporting the implementation of new materials and technologies

Qualification

  • Degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification

  • Several years of professional experience in aerospace or related fields

  • Very good knowledge and experience in fracture mechanics, fatigue strength and damage simulation

  • Experience in technical analyses of space systems as well as knowledge of mechanics and lightweight construction

  • Good understanding of theoretical representation of technical problems

  • Confidence in the assessment of technical problems and analytical competence

  • Ability to present development results convincingly to technical experts

  • Business fluent in German and English, basic knowledge of French an advantage

  • Existing work permit for the EU
